Abstract

Important producer countries of wood and paper products are identified by this study. Identification of these countries is Important for trade of wood and paper products. Ranking of different regions of the world was done using mean values of the production based on FAO 10 years reports from 1998 to 2007. Results showed that the production value for the major part of the products was almost constant during the studied period. Developed countries such as:USA,Canada,ChinaandGermanywere the foremost producers of wood and paper products and even the production rate ofUSAandCanadais slightly lower than the total production of all other countries of the world. These countries have kept their production rate as the years before 1998. The global harvesting of non-coniferous round woods was higher than coniferous round woods, but world production of the non-coniferous industrial round woods became less than that of coniferous industrial round woods in the last years of the studied period. Some Asian countries such asIndonesiaandMalaysiahave been willing to produce secondary products instead of raw materials. These countries are among the 10 top countries in manufacturing of the products such as wood-based panels and pulp and paper in the studied time period.
