Manufacturers of these instruments are always trying to improve the quality of wood to make better sound by using special treatments. Santour (Iranian traditional music instrument) is usually made from walnut wood and the quality of its sound is highly dependent on the quality of wood and fabrication methods. Besides choosing the proper wood and manufacturing technics, all performers agree that if an instrument is kept in proper situation, by playing it, the sound quality will become better over the time. As the wood in instruments is under mechanical vibrations during playing, this hypothesis has been investigated that if the wood is imposed to artificial vibrations similar to real music playing, before being used to make the instrument, what changes will occur in its sound characteristics. Materials and methods: To do this, 10 specimens of walnut wood Juglans regia (5 tangential and 5 radial) with dimensions of 200×40×8 mm3 has been prepared. In order to be sure about the similarities of specimens, the acoustic properties of them has been measured. Then all the woods were imposed to light vibrations for 1 month and then heavier vibration for next 2 months. Two vibrating machines were designed and built which produced light vibrations by magnetic force and heavy vibrating by eccentric mass. The acoustic and mechanical properties of wood like Young's modulus (E), sound speed, sound radiation coefficient, Tanδ, were measured before and after vibrating using nondestructive Bing method. Then the woods remained without vibration for another month to find out the durability of changes and the acoustical properties of them were measured again. Results: The results of this research show that these vibrations have improved the acoustic properties of wood. The light vibration had almost no effect on the specimens but the heavier vibration after one month improved the sound quality of wood up to 3% including Young's modulus, sound speed, sound radiation coefficient, and Tanδ. But in the second month of imposing heavy vibrations no significant change was observed. However statistical analysis shows that this changes are not meaningful. One month after finishing the vibrations, Tanδ returned to the previous amount but improvement in E and other acoustic properties looked permanent. Conclusion: The results were not statistically significant and the 3% improvement was very low but meanwhile it can be concluded that if artificial vibrating is imposed for a long time there is a possibility to improve acoustical propertied of wood.}, keywords = {Santour,Walnut wood,Mechanical vibration,Acoustic properties,Nondestructive tests}, title_fa = {بهبود خواص صوتی چوب گردو(Juglans regia) با استفاده از ارتعاشات مکانیکی مصنوعی و تسریع شده}, abstract_fa = {سابقه و هدف: استفاده از چوب در ساخت سازهای موسیقی قدمتی دیرینه در سرتاسر جهان دارد. سازندگان ساز همواره در تلاش هستند تا با تیمارهای خاص کیفیت چوب‌ها را برای تولید ساز با کیفیت، ارتقاء بخشند. در این بین چوب گردو از دیرباز برای ساخت ساز سنتور که از سازهای ملی ایران است به کار رفته است. صدای این ساز به شدت به کیفیت چوب و نحوه ساخت ساز بستگی دارد. اما در کنار انتخاب چوب مناسب و شیوه ساخت آلات موسیقی، همه نوازندگان اعتقاد دارند که در صورت نگهداری مناسب و نواختن ساز، به مرور زمان، صدای آن بهتر یا اصطلاحاً جا افتاده می‌شود. از آنجائیکه در طی نواختن ساز، چوب تحت ارتعاش قرار می‌گیرد، در این تحقیق این فرضیه مورد آزمون قرار گرفت که اگر چوب پیش از استفاده در ساخت ساز و به منظور شبیه سازی نواختن ساز و بهبود ویژگی‌های آکوستیکی چوب، تحت ارتعاشات مصنوعی تسریع شده قرار بگیرند، چه تغییری در خواص صوتی آن پدید می‌آید. مواد و روش‌ها: از اینرو در این تحقیق، 10 نمونه چوب گردو (Juglans regia) با ابعاد 8×40×200 میلیمتر (5 عدد با برش شعاعی و 5 عدد با برش مماسی) تهیه شدند. خواص صوتی آنها با استفاده از روش غیر مخرب بینگ اندازه‌گیری شد تا از یکسانی نمونه‌ها مطمئن شویم. آنگاه به مدت یک ماه تحت ارتعاشات ضعیف و بعد دو ماه تحت ارتعاشات قوی‌تر قرار گرفتند. برای این کار دو دستگاه ویبراتور طراحی و ساخته شد که با استفاده از خاصیت مغناطیسی لرزش ضعیف و با استفاده از جرم خارج از مرکز لرزش قوی تولید می‌کردند. خواص آکوستیکی و مکانیکی چوب‌ها مانند مدول یانگ، سرعت صوت، میرایی، ضریب تشعشع صوت و امپدانس، قبل و بعد از ارتعاشات اندازه‌گیری شد. در پایان برای بررسی ماندگاری تغییرات، نمونه‌ها به مدت یک ماه در حالت بدون ارتعاش در اتاق کلیما نگهداری شده و خواص صوتی آنها دوباره اندازه‌گیری شد. یافته‌ها: نتایج نشان داد که ارتعاشات ایجاد شده بر روی نمونه‌ها اثر مثبتی بر خواص صوتی چوب داشته است. قرارگیری نمونه‌ها در معرض ارتعاش ضعیف اثر چندانی بر میانگین تغییرات نداشته اما اعمال ارتعاش قوی طی یک ماه اول باعث افزایش خواص صوتی شده است. اما در ماه دوم اعمال ارتعاشات قوی تغییر چندانی ایجاد نکرد. اگرچه بر اساس تحلیل آماری این تغییرات حتی در ماه اول معنادار نبود اما ارتعاشات اعمال شده باعث بهبود 3 درصدی ویژگی‌های صوتی نمونه‌های مورد آزمایش شد. با گذشت یک ماه از اتمام ارتعاشات تغییر حاصل شده در میرایی به حالت اولیه برگشت اما باقی خواص آکوستیکی مانند مدول یانگ، سرعت صوت و غیره بهبود حاصله را تا حدود زیادی حفظ کردند.نتیجه‌گیری: نتایج به دست آمده از نظر آماری معنادار نبوده است و مقدار افزایش در حد 3 درصد بسیار کم بوده است با این حال می‌توان نتیجه گرفت که اگر ارتعاشات مصنوعی بطور درازمدت اعمال شوند، احتمال بهبود خواص صوتی چوب وجود دارد.}, keywords_fa = {سنتور,چوب گردو,ارتعاشات مکانیکی,ویژگی‌های صوتی. ارزیابی غیر مخرب}, url = {https://jwfst.gau.ac.ir/article_5405.html}, eprint = {https://jwfst.gau.ac.ir/article_5405_fbb88d5265f64e3ac9a2f0b435ab1076.pdf} }
